Ben, Chestnut’s founder and CEO and Managing Partner at Kimmeridge, has a track record of driving net-zero commitments, including through leadership roles in public energy companies. Through his previous work, he recognized a growing need for high-quality removal credits that are local and truly additional—Chestnut was founded in 2022 to serve this market. He is closely involved in the screening of new geological opportunities and in negotiating and executing investment strategies.

Prior to founding Kimmeridge, Ben was a Senior Equity Research Analyst for oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) at Sanford C. Bernstein, which he joined in 2003. He was ranked three times in Institutional Investor’s research survey for coverage of E&Ps, and also was ranked for his coverage of natural gas and oil services & equipment. Previously, he worked with British Petroleum (BP) in its M&A and finance group. Before moving into finance, Ben held positions as an exploration geologist and geophysicist across several of BP’s regional business units.

Ben holds an undergraduate degree in earth sciences from St. Peter’s College, Oxford.
