Tomorrow’s Catch: Securing our Future Fisheries

August 26, 2025

We’re proud to be part of Tomorrow's Catch, a powerful new digital series from the American Fisheries Society and Content With Purpose — spotlighting the science, innovation, and collaboration driving the sustainable future of our aquatic ecosystems.

This North American series highlights the people, research, and solutions protecting our freshwater and marine resources — from restoring biodiversity and advancing digital monitoring tools to shaping climate-resilient policy and empowering the next generation of fisheries scientists.

How Carbon Markets Are Revitalizing Waterways and Wildlife Habitat

On a former cattle pasture in Yell County, Arkansas, a new forest is taking root — and with it, a healthier watershed. In this short film, we follow Chestnut Carbon and their partners as they transform degraded land into forests that support water quality, wildlife, and rural livelihoods. Through afforestation and strategic land management, the team is tackling erosion, restoring native tree species, and creating cooler, cleaner waterways for fish and people alike.

Sustaining Our Waters, Securing Our Future

Tomorrow’s Catch: Securing our Future Fisheries is an ambitious digital series produced by the American Fisheries Society (AFS) in partnership with Content With Purpose (CWP). At a time when freshwater and marine ecosystems face mounting threats, this series explores how fisheries science is leading the way in protecting biodiversity, advancing sustainability, and restoring the health of our waters.

From restoring watersheds in the Pacific Northwest to tackling invasive species in Alabama, and from the headwaters of the Susquehanna to the remote research lakes of Canada, Tomorrow’s Catch brings viewers face to face with the scientists, Indigenous leaders, conservationists, and innovators working across North America to protect our aquatic ecosystems. Through cinematic storytelling and in-depth interviews, the series highlights the technologies, partnerships, and policy solutions that are reshaping the future of fisheries management.

Whether you’re a researcher, resource manager, policymaker, or concerned citizen, this is your invitation to dive into the science and stories driving a more sustainable future for our planet’s waters — and the communities that depend on them.
